“If you want to get to the top, there’s always the risk that it will isolate you from other people.”
“Five moves is enough to make sure you are anticipating future outcomes and seeing moves and countermoves.”
“Effective strategy is about making a move and being prepared to launch another series of moves based on how the market or your competition reacts. You must think beyond your first strike to execute an effective strategy. When you start to get really good, you anticipate how others will react and can deploy a series of moves that are nearly impossible to counteract.”
Lagi Bet-David ada cakap dalam buku ni,
“I cannot teach you desire. If you prefer to avoid hard work, if you feel no desire to do something important with your life, there’s not much I can do for you.”
Since ada 5 moves yang dia kongsikan dalam buku ni, saya nak kongsikan tentang the first move.
Master knowing yourself. Mengenal diri sendiri.
Soalan penting yang kita kena tanya diri sendiri,
“Who do you want to be?”
Cuba duduk fikir dan tenung diri dalam-dalam. Kita nak apa sebenarnya dalam hidup ni?
“Nothing matters unless you understand what makes you tick and who you want to be.”
Soalan who do you want to be ni penting gila sebab kita kena tahu apa yang penting bagi kita dan apa strategi yang kita boleh pakai untuk capai matlamat kita kita. Soalan ni juga akan tentukan level of urgency kita.
Contohnya kalau kita nak dominate market, of course kita akan kerja keras gila-gila sebab kita nak jadi top.
Contoh kalau kita nak ada income biasa – biasa je, usaha kita pun akan jadi biasa – biasa je.
Lain orang, lain level of urgency dia.
Dia tengok people treat him like dirt. So dia marah gila – gila masa tu. Then ada lah someone ni cakap kat dia,
“If you had money, you could get better insurance and get better doctors to take care of your dad. But you didn’t pay for this. Taxpayers are paying for this. This is called public health insurance.”
Disebabkan kejadian ni, dia all-out usaha ubah hidup dia.
“Never again.”
Ni ayat yang dia cakap kat diri dia bila dia ambil keputusan untuk all-out.
Kita ni tak semestinya kena buat bisnes. Tak perlu pun jadi entrepreneur.
Who do you want to be? (ni contoh yang Bet-David bagi)
- Entrepreneur
- Support team
- Solopreneur
- Influencer
- Sales
- CEO
- Investor
Fikir dalam – dalam.
“Who do you want to be?”
“Studying others gives us knowledge, but studying yourself ultimately leads to an incredible amount of freedom. Studying yourself helps you reach self-acceptance, which liberates you from self-judgment. Instead of beating yourself up all the time, you learn to accept yourself.”
Lepas dah jawab soalan who do you want to be, soalan seterusnya,
“What type of life do you want?”
Fikir apa kehidupan yang KITA nak. Yes, kita. Level of urgency pun lain. Dugaan hidup pun lain. So kenapa kita suka nak menyusahkan orang dan menyusahkan diri sendiri.
Kita nak hidup yang macam mana?
“I learned that if you work hard and creatively, you can have just about anything you want, but not everything you want. Maturity is the ability to reject good alternatives in order to pursue even better ones.” – Ray Dalio, Principles: Life and Work.
“When you’re honest about who you are, you learn to stop wanting everything.”
“Know who you are and do what it takes to live the life you want.”
Dan semuanya akan align kepada rasa fulfillment.
Apa yang kita kena take note:
- Your vision must align with who you want to be.
- Your choices must align with your vision.
- Your effort must align with the size of your vision.
- Your behavior must align with your values and principles.
Kita sendiri all-out buat.
- “I believe that having questions is better than having answers because it leads to more learning. After all, isn’t the point of learning to help you get what you want? Don’t you have to start with what you want and figure out what you have to learn in order to get it?” – Ray Dalio, Principles: Life and Work
- “Become who you are by learning who you are.” – Pindar
- “The most difficult thing in life is to know yourself.”- Thales of Miletus.
- “There are three things extremely hard; steel, a diamond, and to know one’s self.” – Benjamin Franklin.
- “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” – Aristotle
