Relentless by Tim Grover

Pernah tak terfikir macam  mana Michael Jordan atau Kobe Bryant ni power gila? Adakah sebab mereka ni semulajadi power? Ke sebab ada coach yang power?

Saya pernah terfikir soalan ni.

Kemudian, saya terjumpa buku coach mereka. Tim. S. Grover.

“You already know what you have to do, and you know how to do it. What’s stopping you?”

Kita dah tahu apa yang kita kena buat. So apa yang buatkan kita tak buat?

Tim Grover ni sambung lagi,

“To be the best, whether in sports or business or any other aspect of life, it’s never enough to just get to the top; you have to stay there, and then you have to climb higher because there’s always someone right behind you trying to catch up.”

“Most people give up because everyone has told them what they can’t do, and it’s easier to stay safe in their comfort zone. But if you don’t make a choice, the choice will be made for you. Decide. Commit. Act. Succeed. Repeat. “

Decide. Commit. Act. Succeed. Repeat.

“The minute your mind thinks, ‘done’, your instinct say, ‘next.’”

Relentless is about achieving the impossible.

We learned.

We make mistakes.

We learned from our mistakes.

We kept learning.

Tim Grover ada bagi satu panggilan untuk orang yang driven and memang all-out ni. Dia panggil as Cleaner. Kenapa panggil Cleaner?

“Because they take responsibility for everything. When something goes wrong, they don’t blame others because they never really count on anyone else to get the job done in the first place. They just clean up the mess and move on. Cleaner only cares about the end result.”

“A Cleaner is all about control, and as soon as he feels the addiction is controlling him and not the other way around, he’ll back off until he can regain control. That’s why you see highly driven individuals step away once they become the best of the best; the pressure to go even higher become too consuming. So they pull back, refocus, and usually return with a renewed appetite for even more.”

Pull back. Refocus. And return stronger.

Tu cara orang yang rasa macam lost control untuk dapat control balik.

So adakah kita ni Cleaner?

Tim Grover ada cakap, you’re a Cleaner when:

  • You keep pushing yourself harder when everyone else had enough
  • You know exactly who you are
  • You’re not intimidated by pressure, you thrive on it
  • You don’t compete with anyone, you find your opponent’s weakness and you attack
  • You don’t have to love the work, but you’re addicted to the results.
  • You trust very few people, and those you trust better never let you down.

Satu pesanan padu dari Tim Grover pasal mengharapkan result magik daripada coach,

“No trainer or coach or expert can make you good or great or unstoppable if you’re not going to do the work if you’re waiting for someone to make it happen for you. It’s on you.”

Maksudnya kat sini, of course bila ada coach or mentor ni boleh bantu kita dapat insights. Namun mereka cuma boleh tunjuk jalan. The rest bergantung kepada kita. Yes. kita. Kita yang kena buat. Seberapa keras kita berusaha dan work together with our coach akan bagi result yang kita inginkan. Kita yang kena bergerak.

Tentang pilihan dan buat

Make a choice, or a choice will be made for you.

Make a plan, and execute.

Be realistic.

  • How much time do you have?
  • How much time will you commit?
  • Is it going to be a priority in your schedule, or are you going to fit in around your other commitments?

Make a plan that truly reflects your goals and interests, and you’ll more likely to execute.

You make a choice and stand by it.

Cuba duduk dan fikir. Apa yang kita nak sebenarnya? Berapa lama kita sanggup commit untuk capai matlamat kita tu? Seberapa gila kita nak usaha untuk dapatkan? Adakah betul kita sanggup commit atau sekadar hangit taik ayam je? We decide. Once we decide, make a plan and execute.

Terima kasih Tim Grover sebab tulis buku ni. Saya belajar banyak benda dan macam mana nak lagi fokus dalam kehidupan.
